Emerging Markets Amazon Logistics is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead the Standards and Innovations Process Engineering team.

The standards and innovation Engineer team drive standardization and innovation in physical infrastructure, layout and material flow across our Emerging Markets Last Mile delivery network. As the leader of the Standards and Innovation Process Engineering arm of the Emerging Markets Engineering team you will be responsible for team that will be refining process standards, building on current best practices for physical infrastructure and designing Amazon Logistics equipment that is used across the Emerging Markets network and beyond. Infrastructure your team develops will always be produced to meet safety, customer experience, capacity, quality and cost goals. Your team act as a key point of contact for the EM Process Engineering team, frequently partnering with Engineering teams and leaders in the field, as well as other operational support functions and your WW counterparts. The core process infrastructure ownership element of this role spans Delivery Station and On-the-Road operations. To be successful in this role you will need to be a skilled influencer and capable of working effectively with senior leaders across multiple organizations.

You will need to be a proven team leader, engineering leader, diligent project manager, communicator and problem solver. You will manage large, complex initiatives, deal with ambiguity and advocate on behalf of the customer. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of engineering leadership, responsibility for large projects, cost control/P&L responsibility, and driving innovation across a high-performing engineering organization. This role will be based out of Europe, ideally a location with strong international travel connections and involves frequent travel across the Emerging Markets region (LATAM, APAC, MENA). 

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the Standards and Innovation AMZL Operations Process Engineering Team.
  • Manage a high-performing team of Engineers; driving standardization in infrastructure and equipment standards.
  • Manage and improve facility and field engineering processes utilizing lean methodologies.
  • Manage large, complex engineering initiatives across Emerging Markets.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following through with requests and ensuring needs are met as accurately and immediately as possible.
  • Design future material handling, automation and equipment solutions for Amazon Logistics.
  • Manage large projects for EM Ops Engineering, often with ambiguity; collaborate with Planning, Launch, Procurement, Finance, HR, external partners and product teams to ensure project completion (on time and within budget).
  • Reporting of team and project status to all levels of Senior Management.
  • Drive Innovations across the Engineering Org.
  • Approximately 25% regional travel depending on business needs


Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Extensive experience leading a team in a similar senior process development role, ideally in fast-paced industrial, logistics or production/manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in building and innovating processes and/or processing equipment in a relevant field.
  • Excellent Project Management skills.
  • Business level English language skills


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • MBA, MSc or MEng (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with business partners and key stakeholders and the ability to work under pressure in a cross functional organization.
  • Certified OE Black Belt or Green Belt.
  • Expertise in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other OE tools.
  • Experience in developing specifications for logistic software.
  • Advanced data analysis skills and an expert in using supporting tools e.g. Minitab, JMP, MS Excel, MS Access, and SQL.
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard design and development tools e.g. AutoCAD, MS Visio.
  • Business level Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese language skills
